Message from the Rabbi

3,337 years ago we came out of Egypt, but the journey isn't over. As long as we haven't reached the promised land, we are still exiting Egypt. Each of us has to go out of his/her Egypt, meaning limitations, on a day-to-day basis. Once a year we also commemorate the actual time in which we have began this journey.

Most important is the Shmurah Matzah. Shmura Matza is the "food of faith" and "food of healing". We all need healing, preventative hopefully. We will do our best so that each and every one of you will get Shmurah Matzah for both seders wherever you may be, whether here in Phnom Penh, greater Cambodia or out of country. Please let me know ASAP. I will find a way to get it to you! If you know of anyone whom I don’t know of, or I might not know of, please bring to it my attention.

The Shmurah Matzah should be eaten on the first evening (April 12, 2025) after nightfall and again the following night.

Community Seder

Join us for a Passover Seder you will remember for a lifetime!

First Seder: Saturday, April 12, 7:00 pm at Sunflower Ballroom of Himawari Hotel.

Second Seder: Sunday, April 13, 7:30pm. At the social hall on 2nd floor of Chabad.

Details: Relive the exodus, discover the eternal meaning of the Haggadah, and enjoy a community Seder complete with hand-baked Shmurah Matzah, wine and a wonderful dinner spiced with unique traditional customs.

Friday - April 11th

Please ensure that the house is cleaned for Pesach and that your Chametz is sold in the morning.

Candle lighting time: 5:54 pm followed by Kiddush and Dinner

Saturday - April 12th

Shachrit at Chabad at 8:00 am
Eat Chametz until: 9:53am
Ger rid of your chametz before: 10:56am
Candle lighting time: 5:55pm
First Seder: 7:00pm

Sunday - April 13th

Morning Services: 10:00am followed by Kiddush and festive meal

Evening Services: 7:00pm. Counting the Omer.
Candle lighting after 6:45pm from a pre-existing flame
Second Seder: 7:30pm

While the first large seder will cover the basics for a large and diverse crowd, the 2nd seder is home style and is aimed for more traditional and thorough way of the Seder. Questions and personal thoughts & memories are most welcome!

Monday - April 14th

Morning Services: 10:00am followed by Kiddush and festive meal

Tuesday-Thursday - April 15-17

Our kitchen will provide food from 9 am until 7 pm. We may have minyans. Please contact us if you are interested.

Candle lighting time: 5:56pm
Arvit 6:40pm

Saturday - April 19

Morning Services: 10:00am followed by Kiddush and festive meal

Candle lighting after 6:46pm from a pre-existing flame
Arvit: 7:00pm
Kiddush and dinner: 7:15pm

Sunday - April 20 אחרון של פסח

Morning Services: 10:00 am
Yizkor: 12:00 pm followed by Kiddush and festive meal

Moshiach Seuda-Meal: 5:30 pm in the Rabbi's house.
Yom Tov ends at 6:45 pm. Chametz is permitted. However, please allow 30 mintues for re-purchase of the Chametz sold by the Rabbi on your behalf.

Sell your chametz

Use this online form to sell your chametz for Passover.

Any chametz left undisposed of must be sold to a non-Jew. Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a Rabbi acts as our agent both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew on the morning before Passover and also to buy it back the evening after Passover ends. Use this online form to quickly delegate a Rabbi to sell your chametz for you.

In case you are in Cambodia, I will be more than happy to sell the non-Kosher-for-Passover food of yours to a non-Jew on your behalf. Just fill up this form. If you are not in Cambodia, it is better that you sell your Chametz with your local Rabbi (as your hours of Pesach are different). I will be happy to put you in touch with him.

Order Matzah

Traditional handmade Shmurah Matzah is recommended for Seder use.

Shmurah means watched, and it is an apt description of this matzah, the ingredients of which (the flour and water) are watched from the moment of harvesting and drawing.

Shmurah matzot are round, kneaded and shaped by hand, and are similar to the matzot that were baked by the Children of Israel as they left Egypt. It is thus fitting to use Shmurah Matzah on each of the two Seder nights for the matzot of the Seder plate.

Meal of Moshiach

Sunday, April 20, 5:30 pm at the Butman's residence

Just when you thought you had seen it all! This day, the final day of Passover, emphasizes an even higher Freedom! It is dedicated to our imminent and final redemption.

Following the custom of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of Chassidism, Passover concludes with a "Feast of Moshiach." This festive meal complete with Matzah and, yes, four cups of wine, begins before sunset. It is the perfect way to spiritually take leave of Passover and open our consciousness to the upcoming redemption.
