Message from the Rabbi

3,338 years ago, we came out of Egypt, but the journey isn't over. As long as we haven't reached the promised land, we are still exiting Egypt. Each of us has to go out of his/her Egypt, meaning limitations, on a day-to-day basis. Once a year, we also commemorate the actual time in which we began this journey.

Most important is the Shmurah Matzah. It is the "food of faith" and "food of healing". We all need healing, hopefully preventative. We will do our best so that each and every one of you will get Shmurah Matzah for both seders wherever you may be, whether here in Phnom Penh, greater Cambodia, or out of the country. Please let me know ASAP. I will find a way to get it to you! If you know of anyone whom I don’t know of, or I might not know of, please bring it to my attention.

The Shmurah Matzah should be eaten on the first evening (April 1, 2026) after nightfall and again the following night.

Community Seder

Candle lighting: 5:54 pm followed by Mincha, Kabbalat Shabbat, Kiddush and dinner

Tuesday - April 7th

Candle lighting time: 5:54 pm followed by Arvit, Kiddush and a festive meal.

Wednesday - April 8th

Morning Services: 10:00 am followed by Kiddush and a festive meal.
Candle lighting after 6:43 pm (from a pre-existing flame) followed by Kiddush, Arvit and a festive meal.

Thursday - April 9th

Morning Services: 10:00 am followed by Kiddush and a festive meal.
Yizkor: 12:00 pm
Moshiach Seuda-Meal: 6:00 pm
Yom Tov Ends: 6:43 pm. Please allow 30 minutes for the Rabbi to purchase the Chametz back on your behalf.

Sell your chametz

Use this online form to sell your chametz for Passover.

Any chametz left undisposed must be sold to a non-Jew. Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a rabbi acts as our agent both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew on the morning before Passover and also to buy it back the evening after Passover ends. Order Matzah

Traditional handmade shmurah matzah is recommended for seder use.

Shmurah means watched, and it is an apt description of this matzah, the ingredients of which (the flour and water) are watched from the moment of harvesting and drawing.

Shmurah matzot are round, kneaded and shaped by hand, and are similar to the matzot that were baked by the Children of Israel as they left Egypt. It is thus fitting to use Shmurah Matzah on each of the two Seder nights for the matzot of the Seder plate.

Meal of Moshiach

Thursday, April 9th, 6:30 pm (starting with Mincha)

Just when you thought you had seen it all! This day, the final day of Passover, emphasizes an even higher Freedom! It is dedicated to our imminent and final redemption.

Following the custom of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of Chassidism, Passover concludes with a "Feast of Moshiach." This festive meal complete with Matzah and, yes, four cups of wine, begins before sunset. It is the perfect way to spiritually take leave of Passover and open our consciousness to the coming redemption.
