Chabad emissaries visited Cambodia regularly since the summer of 2006 under the supervision of the regional director, Rabbi Yosef C. Kantor of Chabad Thailand.

We, the Butman family's first trip to Cambodia was to run the Passover seder 2009. The unexpected overwhelming number of 70 participants at the Seder, as well as the incredible thirst that the permanent Jewish residents showed to us, have made us commit to the life mission on summer 2009.

Chanukah 081.JPGWe arrived here with a one-way ticket to permanently open the center on the 5th of Kislev 5770, Nov. 24th, 2009. No more than 3 days after arrival, we found a large home centrally located on St. 228. The home was previously leased by the US embassy. This location was also used as our residence for the first two years after which the community grew and the need for expansion had pushed us to move out.

2 years after our arrival we celebrated the completion of a new Torah scroll dedicated to Chabad Cambodia. Click here for article and photos.

To read more about the development of those early years, see the file 5 years in 55 pictures.

Six years after our arrival for this life mission, on 19th of Kislev 5776, Dec. 1st. 2015 Chabad Cambodia opened its permanent new center. Click here for article and photos. Our facilities now include a Shul, social hall, ladies' Mikvah as well as a man's Mikvah, industrial kitchen, Preschool, library, travelers corner, guest accommodation, and a beautiful rooftop. The only thinע we kept out of the building is our Jewish Cemetery :)

We are now a home on an average night to 20 guests. 100s of travelers use our kosher kitchen during the week, and over 100 join our Friday night dinner. We usually get a minyan in the morning

You are more than welcome to visit!
